Cookie Policy

AttendMetric stores a small amount of first-party localStorage data needed to keep the app working — mainly your session, so you stay signed in. If you accept, we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find us and which features get used. Signed-in pages are never tracked page by page.

• Session token & account info — keeps you signed in between visits, so you don't have to log in on every page load.
• Theme preference — remembers whether you last used light or dark mode.
• Layout preferences — small UI state, like whether a sidebar is collapsed.
• Device identifier — a random ID kept in your browser and sent when you check in, used to flag one device checking in for several students.
• Last activity time — used to sign you out automatically after a period of inactivity.

All of it is essential, first-party storage — set directly by AttendMetric, never by a third party, and never used to track you across other websites.

No advertising pixels, no advertising cookies, no Google signals and no ad personalization. Google Analytics is the only third-party script, it loads only after you accept. On signed-in pages (students, professors, IT admins and administrators) it records no page views and no page addresses, only a few anonymous feature events such as "login succeeded" with your role. We never send names, emails, ids or other account details to it, and we don't sell or share browsing data with advertisers.

When you first visit a public page you're asked to accept or decline analytics. Declining has no effect on how the site or app works. Your choice is remembered in localStorage under am_analytics_consent; clear it to be asked again. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, with IP anonymization on.

You can clear localStorage at any time from your browser's settings — doing so simply signs you out and resets your local preferences. Since it's not used for tracking, clearing it has no privacy implications beyond needing to log back in.
